Americans: Not Big Fans of Trump’s Indictments?

Americans have been keeping a close eye on the legal woes of President Donald Trump. Ever since he took office, the president has been plagued by numerous indictments, court cases, and scandals. While some of these allegations have been more serious than others, many Americans still view Trump’s indictments as one and the same.

According to a recent survey, a majority of Americans believe all of Trump’s indictments should be viewed equally. This means despite any matter’s severity or type, the president must be held accountable and face the same standards of moral justice. This stance is the belief of the majority opinion held by 55 percent of those surveyed.

At the same time, there’s a sizable portion of Americans who disagree. As much as 35 percent of survey respondents said that not all indictments against Trump should be weighed the same. The reasons for this range from some allegations being more serious than others, to charges being politically-motivated.

Even though there is a plethora of indictments against the US president, the majority of Americans firmly agree that all of them should be taken seriously. According to the survey, 62 percent of Americans distrust Trump’s rhetoric especially when it comes to indictments and court cases. Additionally, 57 percent said that they would deny any president — be it Trump or someone else — the benefit of the doubt if indicted.

Trump’s presidency has certainly been tumultuous and rocky. Not even a year into his tenure, he already faced numerous indictments from criminal tax fraud to obstruction of justice. Despite the particulars of each individual case, the overwhelming majority of Americans believe that all allegations against Trump should be viewed equally.
