As Ukraine continues to grapple with a civil war that is far from over, President Volodymyr Zelensky is doing everything in his power to implement a counteroffensive against the separatists, despite howling voices of dissent.
The civil war in Eastern Ukraine, which has been ongoing since 2014, has been a battle between the Ukrainian Government forces and Russian-backed separatist forces. It has been a particularly painful conflict for Ukraine’s citizens, with fighting continuing even in urban centres, causing massive destruction and loss of life.

This is meant to help reduce the tensions between the Ukraine and Russia, as well as the separatists, and ultimately lead to a peaceful resolution.
While it remains to be seen how the counteroffensive pans out, one thing is certain; Zelensky is determined to regain control of the conflict zone and to push for a peaceful resolution that will benefit both Ukraine and the region as a whole.
