Unlock the Power of Nevada’s Lithium-Rich Highlands: Testing the Super-Critical Carbon Dioxide Extraction at the Gemini Lithium Project

Lithium-mineralized clays from the Nevada Sunrise Gold Corporation’s Gemini Lithium Project in Nevada have recently been provided for super-critical carbon dioxide extraction testing. This type of testing, also referred to as supercritical CO2 extraction, is used to extract oils from plant-based materials including marijuana and hemp.

The Gemini Lithium Project is located in the eastern district of Nevada and is amongst the few, if not only, lithium clay deposit located in Nevada. The project covers over 8,000 acres of land that contains lithium mineralized clays. The project has the potential to contain ore grades high enough to allow for economic extraction of lithium.

The testing is being conducted by a leading extraction and process technology engineering firm. The extracted Lithium ore is destined to be used in the manufacture of high-end consumer electronic components such as Lithium batteries for smartphones and electric autos.

The complete testing process involves two phases. First, the ore is smashed into small particles and then the particle size is reduced even further by a grinding process. Next, the super-critical carbon dioxide (CO2) is then added which then undergoes a two-step extraction process to isolate the Lithium from the ore.

The CO2 extraction process is an environmentally friendly and cost-effective process for extracting lithium from the ore. This process produces high-purity lithium without the need for expensive solvents, like acetone, that can pose environmental risks.

“This is a great opportunity for Nevada Sunrise Gold Corporation to showcase the quality of their lithium-mineralized clays from the Gemini Lithium Project”, said Reno Leng, President and CEO of Nevada Sunrise Gold Corporation. “The testing process can really demonstrate the value of our lithium clays by producing high-purity Lithium which can be used in the manufacture of advanced materials”.

The Gemini Lithium Project is a key part of the Nevada Sunrise Gold Corporation’s strategy to produce and supply high-value lithium-mineralized clays for the manufacturing of advanced materials such as Lithium batteries. The company is confident that their Lithium clays from the Gemini Lithium Project can help in the production of high-quality, low cost Lithium-based materials.
