“Sparking Danger: Kia and Hyundai Recall Over 3 Million Vehicles!”

Kia and Hyundai have issued a major recall of 3.37 million vehicles in the United States due to fire risks. The vehicles were part of a larger 7.25 million vehicle recall issued in August 2019, which affected vehicles across the world.

The recall applies to select Kia and Hyundai vehicles from the 2017- 2021 model years. These include the Kia Sorento, Kia Sportage, Hyundai Santa Fe, and Hyundai Tucson. A faulty part in the engine compartment known as a “thermal fuse” may be at risk of short-circuiting and causing fires.

Detecting the issue is a matter of ensuring that the fuse is properly connected. Hyundai and Kia are sending out a special alert to notify owners of the recalled vehicles with instructions on how to check to see if their vehicle is affected.

The risk of a fire is difficult to ascertain until the issue is properly diagnosed. As such, Kia and Hyundai are offering a free inspection and repair for any affected vehicles. Owners of the recalled vehicles will also receive an extended warranty on related components.

Kia and Hyundai have already taken steps to address the recall in other markets and have begun notifying owners in the United States. Vehicle owners who are affected by the recall are urged to contact their local Hyundai or Kia dealer to have their vehicle checked out.

It is unfortunate that these vehicles have been recalled in such high numbers. However, the steps taken by Kia and Hyundai to address the issue should ensure that any potential fire risks are removed before they become an issue.
