When most people think of the long-standing conflict between Israel and Palestine, it is usually seen as an abstract concept. However, the reality is that it can have very real and devastating consequences for those living in the area who often put their lives on the line in order to protect their homes and families.
This is definitely the case for one particular young woman, Nehama Moskovich, from the Jewish settlement of Kiryat Arba. Recently, Moskovich was put in a situation none of us could ever imagine, and her incredible bravery and ingenuity kept her alive.
It all began on May 1st, when Moskovich heard gunshots and concluded that a terror attack was taking place outside of her home. Immediately, she ran to the safe room and, when it became clear that the door was not secure enough on its own, she barricaded it from the inside using a vacuum cleaner and a rolling pin.
This combination of items managed to hold off an attacker attempting to gain entry to her home for a full three hours, a time span in which Moskovich remained in the safe room, both terrified and incredibly brave.
When the dust finally settled, it was discovered that four terrorists from the Hamas organization hadG managed to infiltrate the settlement, all four of whom were eventually eliminated by the Israel Defense Forces.
Moskovich’s remarkable actions will surely live on as an inspiring example of courage to generations to come. It is a reminder of the immense power that lies within us and that we should never give up the fight to protect our homes and families.
In an interview following the event, Moskovich reflected on her situation saying, “I never imagined I’d be the one to have to hold off the attackers, but when I realized what was happening, all I could think of was how to protect my family and keep them safe.”
Nehama Moskovich is a true hero and her story serves as a powerful example of courage and resilience in times of great danger.
