“Can We Forget the Past? Examining Trump’s New Image”

Donald Trump’s Improved Image: Is It Approval or Amnesia?

The 2020 elections saw a huge wave of support for Donald Trump, a two-term president who seemed to escape from some of the criticism and uncertainty he had faced up until that date. All of a sudden, the 45th President of the United States saw massive ratings and approval boosts, amidst much of the chaos going on in the US.

The question everyone has in mind is: why was there an improvement in Donald Trump’s image? Is this due to approval from the public or simply because they forgot the issues he was involved in?

The first and foremost factor behind the improved image of Trump among his supporters is a rising sense of patriotism under his leadership. Trump’s enthusiasm and pride for the country gave him an upper-hand amongst his voters. His policies on immigration and other areas of justice satisfied the “American Dream” beliefs of many of his supporters. Other issues such as reform of the justice system, backing of religious freedom, and that of gun rights also got a lot of support.

However, none of these policies would have mattered much if they had not taken a stand in the fight against Covid-19. Trump’s keenness to get businesses reopened and the economy running also won him back some of the supporters who had initially disagreed with his policies. He was seen as being proactive and his actions were regarded as being taken in the interest of public safety.

Another reason for Donald Trump’s improved image was the mainstream media’s portrayal of the elections. It was no secret that large-scale media networks didn’t often portray Donald Trump in the best light. However, media personnel had to cover the election, and they opted to cover it objectively, bringing onboard both sides for a fair approach in regard to the voting process. This was particularly evident when it came to meetings between the two presidential nominees.

Last but not least, it would be hard to ignore the role social media played in Trump’s improved image. He was able to mobilize his supporters to help spread his message and even share news with each other that further reinforced his status as the leader of the Republican Party.

All in all, Trump’s improved image could be attributed to a number of factors. It is hard to tell if this is approval or if people are simply forgetting his past mistakes and controversies. Whatever the reason may be, his new image has certainly made an impact in the politics of the US.
