New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu has endorsed South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley for the Republican Presidential Nomination.
In a statement released today, Governor Sununu commended Haley for her “unwavering commitment to the Republican Party” and her “proven record of keeping conservative values intact.” Governor Sununu believes that Haley is the right person for the job.
“Governor Haley has been a champion in the fight to keep our country safe, and in our fight to keep the American dream alive. Her commitment to the Republican Party and her unwavering dedication to conservative values make her the right person for the job. She has my full faith and support in her bid for the White House.”
Sununu’s endorsement is significant as Haley has worked to increase her profile in the 2016 race for the Republican Presidential Nomination. Haley has served a total of seven year as Governor of South Carolina and is considered to be among the top contenders for the nomination.
Though she is considered a GOP establishment candidate, Haley has controversial positions and policy stances, such as her strong opposition to the Confederate Flag and a call for the removal of the Ten Commandments from the Kentucky state Capitol.
Haley has also been applauded for her willingness to work with the Obama administration on issues such as unemployment and the Ebola crisis. Her candidate profile is further enhanced by her experience managing a government of considerable size and complexity.
Governor Sununu’s endorsement of Governor Haley can only further increase her stature among GOP voters and could prove to be a powerful endorsement for her campaign.
This endorsement comes at a critical time in the race for the Republican Presidential nomination, and could potentially give Haley the edge she needs to succeed.
