Alexandra S. Stefanik, a Harvard graduate and a subsidiary professor of Government at Harvard, is now introducing herself as a face of the GOP charge against elite universities. For the past few months, Stefanik has been very vocal in her criticism of the way elite institutions are dealing with the issue of race, diversity and inclusion.
Her views on the subject have been inspired by her own experiences as a student of Harvard. After graduating two years ago, she has published essays in numerous publications that criticize and question the current strategies of universities towards such matters. Besides that, she has also ignited a debate within some parts of the Republican Party about the appropriateness of some of the policies of elite universities that are seen to have an anti-conservative bias.
Under the current Trump Administration, Stefanik has put herself at the forefront of this debate. In her opinion, the current situation of ‘liberal privilege’ in academia is a big problem that must be addressed. She even penned an op-ed for Politico, accusing two Ivy Leagues of making it almost impossible for conservative voices to be heard on their campuses.
In her view, elite universities should do more to uphold both liberal and conservative beliefs and should dedicate more resources to promoting meaningful dialogue between the two sides. Despite her criticism of the current methods of elite universities, she doesn’t believe in completely overturning the system.
In the near future, Alexandra S. Stefanik will continue to strive for more Balanced and diverse approach towards academia, but only time will tell if she will be successful in her endeavours and if she can make a notable impact in this matter. Nonetheless, we expect her bold views to spark meaningful conversations and debates within the nation – and hopefully, eventually within all parts of the world.
