Supreme Court: Ready to Make the Ultimate Call on 2024 Elections?

The Supreme Court of the United States has long been a political power entity within the country. With its decisions affecting virtually every aspect of life in America, no election season in recent years has been quite as historic as the one leading into the confusing and tumultuous 2020 election.

As matters seemingly settle on the 2020 presidential race, however, speculation has already begun on the impact that the court could have on the following election. Predications and surveys point to the court playing an even more pivotal role in the 2024 election than the one that we just experienced.

Changes within the court have created new dynamics that could position it as one of the most important factors in deciding who sits in both the White House and Congress in 2024. With the ratifying of President Trump’s second Supreme court pick, Judge Amy Coney Barrett on October 27th, 2020, the court has now shifted to a 6-3 conservative majority, a stark contrast from the 5-4 progressive majority it had in 2016.

This shift is considered to be a major advantage for right-winged conservatives in 2024, as court-driven decisions could overturn already-established progressive policies that have been put in place in recent years. This outcome could be especially advantageous for those running on a more right-leaning platform than their left-winged counterparts, as their policies could be given priority and validity on the court’s decisions.

As matters of the pandemic, environmental protection, and labor rights are sure to rise to the surface in the lead up to the 2024 election, the Supreme Court’s decisions could determine the fate of the election results. By being the final, unbiased, and unalterable say in later-life decisions, the court could quite possibly be the defining factor of the next election.

The 2022 mid-term elections are likely to serve as an indicator of the potential impact that the Supreme Court will have on the 2024 presidential race. The outcome of the midterms will not only give an insight into the opinions of American people, but also determine which party will have the power to appoint justices to the court after the election. This decision alone can potentially change the entire makeup of the court, and have dramatic effect on the election’s outcome.

Ultimately, the United States Supreme Court is sure to have an unprecedented role in the 2024 election. With America’s political future potentially in its hands, the court’s decisions leading up to the election will surely draw attention like never before.
