“Air Travel Worsened By Government Shutdown: Don’t Let It Stop You!”

A recent report from the United States Department of Homeland Security has warned that the looming government shutdown could have a severe effect on air travel.

The report, which was made public Monday, says that a government shutdown could lead to an increase in wait times, security risks and travel disruptions. Airports could also experience a drop in personnel and resources, meaning it could take longer to get through airport security or clear customs. Additionally, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has warned of a potential increase in delays and cancellations as a result of reduced staff.

The government shutdown would essentially mean that only essential personnel are maintained and that all non-essential functions are suspended, including those related to national security. As a result of the shutdown, certain security functions, such as TSA PreCheck, may be suspended as TSA agents are directed to focus on screening passengers only.

But despite the warnings, airlines and industry experts say that air travel would still be safe, as federal air traffic regulations are still in place. Additionally, most major airports have staff and resources in place in order to keep operations running smoothly, even in the event of a shutdown.

The possible government shutdown has already had an effect on air travel, as tickets prices have already began to rise in some cities as passengers move to book their flights before the October 1st deadline. Airlines have also attempted to ease the potential burden on customers, with some waiving ticket and fee changes for certain flights in the event of a shutdown.

Ultimately, a government shutdown could cause a great deal of hassle and disruption to air travel, leaving passengers stranded and having to make alternative travel plans. It’s important, then, that travelers stay informed of the latest updates and developments to keep their travel plans running smoothly.
