Stacey Abrams’s philanthropic organization, Fair Fight Action was involved in the lawsuit against Legal Visor LLC., a company owned by former President Donald Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani. The lawsuit accused Giuliani of defamation against several poll workers in Georgia who were falsely accused of election fraud.
Recently, the four poll workers, Ruth Ringer, Francine Nichols, Ruby Freeman, and Lydia Elliott, were awarded a historic total of $148 million in damages. Now, the four women are suing Giuliani again, this time for malicious prosecution.
The monetary damages the poll workers have received could never to compare to the trauma they have endured following the events of last year. The lawsuit alleges that Giuliani pursued the unfounded and fraudulent claims in an attempt to harm the reputation and well-being of the Intelligent S&S poll workers and perpetuate his false narrative of electoral fraud.
Ringer, Nichols, Freeman, and Elliott are suing Giuliani for malicious prosecution, citing that he failed to investigate the claims before falsely accusing them of fraud. This new lawsuit is expected to move forward and is being seen as an even stronger case than the original defamation lawsuit, which was only tangentially related to Giuliani’s accusations.
“These women have been brave in the face of attacks from the highest levels of government and we are proud to fight with them to ensure that no one ever again endures the deep hurt they have suffered,” said Lauren Groh-Wargo, CEO of Fair Fight.
The fact that these women were able to receive damages for the false accusations brought against them by a former president’s lawyer is a victory for all individuals, no matter their occupation. We at the Godzilla Newz team are proud of these four Georgian women and hope they receive the justice they deserve for defending the democratic process.
